There are many life lessons that become clear in this seciton of Into the Wild. Chris should love his family.
Moreover, a life lesson is that one should not me judgemental of their family, for they will always love you. Chris sees what Walt did to his former wife as awful and irreconcilable. Walt and Billie both still loved Chris and liked his prescence, contrary to Chris's belief. It is for these reasons Chris left and went to be on his own, subsequently causing his death. Chris should have seen above the fact that Walt did horrendous things in the past. Chris should have given Walt a second chance. However, Chris didn't see this as a prevalent life lesson and therefore paid for it. Another life lesson also became evident in this section. In chapter 14, Krakauer talks about his journey following Chris' footsteps to the summit of the devils thumb and the alaskan interior. Krakauer went with native alaskans and he was still somewhat afraid of the experience and chances of death. Chris went alone. Krakauer made it clear that Caution and Preparation are needed for success in the wild. If Chris had been more precautionary he might have survived longer and not have met his doom. If he had been more prepared, he would have brought more food and possibly not have died in such a fashion as he did. Therefore, these life lessons are worthy of mention as the lackthereof caused Chris' demise.
